TheHunter Primal  update:

This is still by far the best dino hunting game out there at this time, and now with even MORE dinos to hunt! They just released the Velociraptor! They are cute lil turkey sized pack-hunting bastards! Found mostly in the deep forests, They attack by literally jumping on you and clawing at you. Each one doesn’t do a lot of damage, but I haven’t seen any pack of less than 5 of the lil devils and they can take you apart if you let them. On the flip side they are easily killed even with the ol, twig & string (bow & arrows) and a .12 gauge with buckshot makes short work of a pack.

I’m not sure of their tracking skills yet as my only encounter was on purpose and I was not trying to avoid them.  Also the Utah raptors, Trikes and T-Rex have had their characteristics changed, the Utahs are now more often found in forested areas, the trikes and T-Rex are now more often found in open areas of the map. The number of Trikes spawning has also been increased.

I was unfortunate though in game recently as I was killed by a T-Rex right as the patch hit and when I re-spawned all my gear was gone…No biggie as it’s part of the game to have to collect gear and ammo anyways, and I was able to effectively re- gear in only a few playing sessions.

Another cool new feature is now you earn credits and points for your kills and can use those for upgraded equipment and weapons.

Now that they have more predators I hope they add another herbivore, I’d love to see a stegosaurs or Hadrosaurids(duck billed). I’m still pretty sure we will also see one of the Pterosaurs as it is in one of their promo shots…I can imaging thedifficulty in hunting one, not just hitting it as it attacks, but tracking a downed one through thick forest after you’ve killed it.

The game is really coming along, the graphics are awesome, the game play varies between the thrill of the hunt and the terror of being the hunted in good measure, with the sense of reward for a good kill or indeed,  the thrill surviving an encounter with something as deadly as a T-Rex. I can STILL highly recommend this game to anyone interested in the Dinosaur hunting genera.
